Ughhh, I hate adult acne!
It seems no matter what I do as far as skin care, I still get annoying pimples! I found some useful diet info to help with not breaking out as much... I guess I should give this a shot. But my problem is I love cheese... can't live without it! Here's what I found, hope it helps some of you too.
Here are other nutrition tips to fight acne:
A diet that is high in fiber can keep the colon clean and can reduce toxicity.
Vegetables and fruits are essential to any healthy diet.
Zinc-rich foods like soybeans, pumpkin seeds and certain nuts are beneficial to the skin.
Drinking lots of water (1.5 liters daily, at least) leads to healthy skin. Drinking lots of alcohol, coffee, soft drinks and sugar-rich drinks leads to unhealthy skin.
Too much iodine (fish and table salt) can make acne worse. The same can be said for eating too many dairy products such as eggs, cheese, milk and the like.

Post a CommentHmmmm, come to think of it, I also oversalt my food. I never knew that could make acne worse.
romaniag, whenever I eat foods rich in fats (like any sauce with butter, or chinese food) I usually got blemishes. Well NOT ANYMORE! I started using the new Clinique system about 6 weeks ago (a 3 step treatment), that I have added to my normal skin care routine and let me tell you it works. No more "hormonal" chin blemishes, and all week I've been eating Chinese
and my skin hasn't suffered at all. I have combination non-sensitive
skin.

i hear you ms. romania...i am 32 and still getting acne...the worst part for me are the scars..i also love my food salty-maybe that is one of the reasons
The best thing I've found for my adult acne has been the Clinique Acne 3-Step system combined with a high hormone level birth control pill. And lots of water, just like you said!
And since a lot of women can't tolerate high hormone levels in their birth control, eating and drinking healthy is a great bet for internal acne fighting. Great blog!
I will tell this to my son, he puts lots of salt on his food.
I'm 29 and been dealing with acne for 15+ years, it's the worst! I'll have months where my skin is doing great, then a relapse follows. Oh, the frustation!
However, I found this website where this guy swore by his regimen and I decided to give it a try. He basically washes his face morning and night with a real gentle cleanser and waits until his face is completely air dried and applies a 2.5% benzoil treatment. Then he moisturizes as usual.
I gave it a try, but wasn't as strict as he was when it came to air drying - it took too long. Instead, I just wash my face with a gentle cleanser, towel-dry my face, then I use the Neutrogena On the Spot acne treatment on my acne-prone areas. It's worked wonders. I've been acne-free for about a year and it feels great!
Good luck!
well great to hear about the drinking lots of water cuz I drink so much water in a day...
guess it is true that water is good for ya ha
the only thing that worked for me was accutane. It was the best thing I've tried and truly a miracle drug (for me..I know other people may not have a great experience with it).
I agree, it is just so irritating. At 40, you would think that part of life would be over. I find that excess sugar creates problems for me.
